The thesis demonstrates the theoretical background and experimental study of socio-psychological conditions for the development of gender tolerance of secondary school teachers and offers a programme for tolerance development taking into account determined peculiarities and conditions. The work covers the analysis of main theoretical approaches to the study of gender tolerance of a personality. The contents, components, criteria and features of gender tolerance of secondary school teachers are theoretically worked out. Socio-psychological problems are analyzed and socio-psychological conditions for the development of gender tolerance of secondary school teachers are demonstrated. The levels of gender tolerance are researched (low, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper-intermediate and high). The insufficient level of gender tolerance is revealed among the major part of secondary school teachers in general, as well as according to separate components, value and sense oriented in particular. Sociodemographical,organizational-professional and personal features of gender tolerance of teachers are established. The programme to foster gender tolerance of secondary school teachers is developed and tested, its efficiency is proved.
