Essay

The PhD research is devoted to the study of a new way of managing energy-consuming coherent vortex structures (ECCVS), which affect the processes of mass and energy exchange in vortex chambers. It is built on the fact that continuous ordered small-diameter vortexes are installed in the flow part of the inlet nozzle of the mixing chamber. A computational and experimental substantiation of the method of the study based on the principle of mutual susceptibility of vortex structures proposed. Experimentally discovered the phenomenon of “pumping” the energy of pulsations from small vortices to larger ones, which allows it to be used to control aero- and hydrodynamic processes of mixing in vortex chambers and technological apparatuses. It has been also experimentally and theoretically proved that small controlling effects on the input flow of a vortex chamber by a wing-shaped vortex generator can significantly intensify mass transfer processes at the chamber exit cross-section with minimal energy losses based on the principle of mutual susceptibility of vortex structures. Perceptivity of proposed control method is based on the fact that the intensity and energy parameters of the finite vortices from the wing-shaped vortex generator are predictable and can be analyzed.
