The object of study is the process of reconstruction of a traffic accident. The purpose of the study is to improve the accuracy and objectivity of the estimation of the parameters of the movement of vehicles during the reconstruction of a traffic accident by applying modern scientific and technical means. Research methods: analysis and synthesis; laser scanning; differentiation and integration; mathematical statistics and probability theory; technical monitoring; experiment; computer modelling. For the first time, a universal theoretical law of the density distribution of a random variable of steady-state deceleration of N1 category vehicles equipped with an anti-lock system was obtained. This does not contradict the stochastic nature of the vehicle braking process and, unlike the well-known computational methods, makes it possible to more accurately assess the braking efficiency during the reconstruction of a traffic accident, and also solve the inverse problem — assess the vehicle speed in the absence of traces of braking on the road surface. The method of obtaining technical information about vehicle movement parameters from the recording data from the DVR has been improved, which, unlike existing models thanks to the developed mathematical models and the algorithm, makes it possible to more objectively and with a certain accuracy rate, deceleration and distances at certain time intervals during road reconstruction traffic accident. The method of reconstruction of a road accident, which uses modern scientific and technical means - a laser scanning system and an information-software complex with an accident mechanism research module, was further developed. Compared to outdated expert methods, this provides complete digital coverage of the entire scene and damage over a shorter time interval, and also allows you to set dimensions, distances, angles, and vehicle speeds with greater accuracy and objectivity.
