Essay

The object of the research is silicon microelementosis in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA); the goal is to improve the quality of early diagnosis of RA and OA, establish new pathogenetic factors and to develop informative prognostic criteria for the course of the diseases; the methods clinical, X-ray, ultrasound, electrophysiological, biochemical, immuno-enzymatic, absorption-spectrometric, statistical; the scientific novelty and the results the concentration of silicon in the patients’ blood and hair with different courses of RA and OA has been first established depending on the nature of articular syndrome and extra-articular signs of the diseases, the clinical and pathogenetic significance of silicon microelementosis in these diseases of the musculoskeletal system has been proved, the link of silicon imbalance in the body with the level of silicon-containing compounds in the atmosphere of the regions of the patients' dwelling has been also shown, it has been found out the influence of silicon in the inhaled air on the prevalence and individual manifestations of RA and OA as well as on the development of osteodeficiency, the parameters of Barnett-Nordin indexes and bone mineral density, bone metabolism status, it has been first identified the relationships between silicon level in the body and the laboratory parameters of pathological activity (C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, rheumatoid factor, anti-citrolin antibodies) and the amount of bone metabolism markers (osteocalcin, alkaline phosphatase, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium , lead and strontium); it has been introduced in the medical process of MI “Center for Primary Health Care 1 of Kramatorsk”, MMI “City Hospital 2 of Kramatorsk”, rheumatological departments of the Research Institute of Rehabilitation of the disabled people (educational and scientific medical complex) of Vinnytsya National M. I. Pirogov Memorial Medical University, MI “Dniprovska City Clinical Hospital 11” of the Dnipro City Local Council, Lviv Regional Clinical Hospital, the center of rheumatology of Clinical Hospital “Feofaniya” of the State Management of Affairs, as well as the pedagogical process of Donetsk National Medical University; the field of the use the medical and diagnostic process of rheumatological and therapeutic departments, the educational process of the departments of the therapeutic profile of medical educational institutions.
