The thesis is devoted to the improvement of the method for estimating the heat load of a power distribution transformer (PDT), which is operated under variable load conditions and the development of a device for testing the efficiency of PDT use in real time by the heat load index. The task of calculating the temperature temporal dependences of the elements of the active part of the PDT - windings, of the magnetic system and of the transformer oil in the cooling system with a variable load on the basis of which the method of calculating the coefficient of permissible overload by the power (current) and the time of maintenance in the state of increased load is proposed. It is proved that the increase of the constant heating time of structural elements, due to the use of modern electrical materials in PDT, is a prerequisite for the manufacture of transformers for distribution networks. A device for testing the speed and mass flow rate of transformer oil oro ther (innovative) coolant in the cooling system and monitoring the efficiency of the transformer using a thermal load indicator has been developed. Continuity of control increases the reliability and life of the transformer. The value of the thermal load index, the method of its use in the system of monitoring and control of the transformer allows to justifiably load the transformers in the distribution networks, more precisely to set the terms of conducting scheduled maintenance works and may be useful in developing the SMART GRID system.
