Essay

The attention in the dissertation is given to the level of clarification of the problem of folklore and literature coaction in the scientific investigations; the scientific discourse is analyzed according to different semantic content-based approaches to the term “folklorism”; the two-pronged approach to the folklore and literature interference is studied; the levels and types of folklore and literature interrelation are analyzed; the stages of collective creativity influence on the author’s individual are observed. The fairy-tale three-category character, introduced by L. Dunaievska, is applied here for the first time to the analysis of M. Matios’s creative works; the functions (after V.Propp) or variants (after R.Volkov) as microelements of author’s works’ plot are considered. Analyzed here are also the concepts, symbols, artistic images of the author’s plot that arose with the basis on folk world outlook. Each author who defines his creativity as the one, belonging to Ukrainian cultural area, more or less appeals to the folk sources as identifiers of Ukrainian sameness. One of the main tasks that the author of literary works sets, is to find the “common ground” with reader, and this is solved not only by literary mastership, but also by its folklore inclusives’ saturation that has a beneficial effect on “awakening” of reader’s inherited memory and better memorability of the text.
