The thesis is devoted to the development of theoretical foundations for improving the management mechanism of the transport system of the city through the implementation of the formed construct, which determines the set of proposals and forms the appropriate tools for the development of the transport system of the city. The content definition of the concept "transport system of the city" is specified. The composition of economic models of the city transport system formation and the approach to its management are developed. The sequence of analysis of economic indicators of functioning of urban passenger transport has been further developed and the approach to the subject-object analysis of urban passenger transport management has been improved. The procedure for determining and assessing the conditions for the development of urban passenger transport has been improved. The construct improvement of the mechanism of management of transport system of the city is formed. The approach to determining the influence of environmental factors on the efficiency of the city transport system management and economic and mathematical support of the city transport system management mechanism has been further developed. Justified and defined strategic objectives of the transport system of the city.
