Essay

On the basis of utilizing unpublished and published sources, the dissertation investigates peculiarities in the development of Ukrainian-Austrian relations in the current stage of the European system's transformation. It researches international relations from the end of the Cold War, from the monopolar to multipolar systems of international relations. It highlights how the perceptions of Ukrainian society and elites regarding the Austrian experience of neutrality policy don't necessarily correspond to the parameters of the existence of contemporary Ukrainian statehood in the face of the challenges of the Russian "hybrid war". It clarifies the interpretation of the specifics of Austria's foreign policy towards Ukraine after the accession of Austria to the European Union. Austria, on many issues of European politics, reorients itself toward the position of Germany, but does not neglect its own national interests.
