Essay

In the dissertation the actual scientific task of constructing and investigating the substantiated mathematical models for reaction-diffusion processes of carbon monoxide oxidation on the nanostructured platinum catalysts is solved. For the first time, a mathematical model is substantiated and constructed for reaction-diffusion processes of carbon monoxide oxidation on the platinum catalyst surface for the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism. It takes into account: the two-dimensionality of the surface on which catalytic oxidation reaction takes place; the finiteness of the rate of oxidation product desorption from the catalyst surface; the reconstruction of the platinum surface nanostructure during oxidation process.
