Martsyniuk M. Migration Policy of Portugal (1974-2006).

The thesis provides a comprehensive and system analysis of the Portuguese migration policy in the 1976-2006. Portugal is one of the few countries in the European Union, which in a rather short period managed to implement an effective algorithm of working with migrants. Such an algorithm invented during the period of the implementation of European legislation in Portugal considering national peculiarities, which had formed because of the colonial past of the country. The implementation of the Portuguese migration policy became effective through the creation of a system of governmental and non-governmental institutions for working with migrants. Taking into account the European aspirations of Ukraine, the learning of the Portuguese experience in the migration policy is particular relevant. The research argues that in the upcoming years Ukraine will increasingly need an effective mechanism of work with immigrants and emigrants, especially after the implementation of a visa-free regime with the European Union.
