Essay

In dissertation work new data are reflected in relation to the features of macroscopic and microscopic structure of feathers am 16 kinds of domestic and wild birds. For the first time, the features of structure of branches of unreal contour type, which but does notform a continuous vane as a plate. Computer-tomographic studies for the first time revealed that the cerebrospinal fluid of the stem of the feathers is heterogeneous in density. Areas of a more dense brain substance connecting with each other and with a cortical substance of the wall form a frame of the stem of the feathers. It was found that elongated and bent ventral crests of the first-order flowing feathers of the studied representatives of the family of the Goose-like are closely adjacent to each other and form a solid, thin dense plate or film that closes the ventral surface of the feathers. For the first time, the structure of the first-order feathers of fluff feathers of Penguin subantarctic, whose stem is formed only by a cortical substance and has a semi-cylindrical cross-sectional shape, is investigated and described. On the basis of research results it is suggested one of the varieties of contour feathers to be called non-overcoat, and maintenance feathers.
