Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of US - Soviet confrontation in the Middle East in the midst of the Cold War. The paper analyzes the attempt of the superpowers to establish themselves in the region by seeking allies, providing them with economic and military assistance. A number of Middle Eastern crises occurred during this period, during which the Soviet Union and the United States also sought to increase their influence through diplomatic and propaganda methods. As a result, the United States succeeded in drawing Israel, Saudi Arabia and Jordan to its side, and Egypt, Syria, Iraq and northern Yemen to the USSR. In the mid-1960s, the prerequisites for the Six Day War of 1967 finally emerged in the Middle East.
