Essay

The paper presents the results of a critical study of the taxa of the tribe Bromeae Dumort. at genus, species, subspecies and varietas levels, the structure of the tribe was clarified and a taxonomic analysis of the morphological characters of its representatives was carried out, as well as the ranges of species on the territory of Ukraine were specified. It has been established that the tribe Bromeae is represented by one genus Bromus s.l., four sections (Bromus, Bromopsis, Genea, and Ceratochloa) and 20 species. In the tribe taxonomy of the Ukrainian flora, the main role is played by the macromorphological signs of the vegetative and generative organs, while the signs of the structure of the leaf epiderma have more general application and mainly characterize the tribe as a whole. Based on the results obtained by statistical data processing, study of the protologues, the type material of species and samples in numerous herbarium collections, the taxonomic structure of some groups of species was rethought. A new combination Bromus cappadocicus var. glabrata (Klokov) Krasniak comb. et stat. nov., comb. provis. is suggested, a new name for the interspecific hybrid Bromus ×neotauricus Krasniak, nom. nov. et provis. is offered, and also a taxonomic system within individual sections of the genus Bromus s.1. is precised. The ecological-coenotic features of species are studied and species ranges are analyzed. Several new localities were revealed for B. diandrus, B. sterilis, B. scoparius, B. carinatus, B. erectus, and a significant decrease in the frequency occurrence of B. arvensis and B. secalinus in Ukraine was noted. A dichotomous key and a synopsis have been compiled to determine the taxa of the section and species level.
