Object of study – the process of radionuclides accumulation by energy crops, biomass and energy consumption formation in the conditions of radioactive contamination of Zhytomyr Polissia. The aim of the study – soil phytorehabilitation by growing energy crops to obtain environmentally friendly biomaterials based on the study of the radionuclides and heavy metals contamination impact, energetical and economic efficiency. Research methods – analytical, field study, weight measuring, comparative, statistical. Theoretical and practical results – we recommend farms of various forms of ownership: to grow Miscanthus giganteus, sylph pronyzanolisty and perennial sedge to restore the fertility of soddy podzolic sandy soil in the Ukrainian Polissia region, contaminated with radionuclides, heavy metals and to obtain environmentally friendly products from energy plants. Novelty – for the first time the peculiarities of radionuclide migration in the «soil-plant» link during cultivation of energy crops for biofuel production depending on fertilizers have been established on radionuclide-contaminated soddy podzolic sandy soils of the Ukrainian Polissia; it has been proved that the content of 137Cs, 90Sr and heavy metals in soil and plants does not exceed the limit of DR-2006 (Acceptable levels); the influence of mineral fertilizers on the productivity of energy crops in the conditions of radioactively contaminated soils has been determined. The degree of implementation – the results of the dissertation research are used by the Zhytomyr department of the state institution «Institute of Soil Protection of Ukraine» to conduct seminars for employees of scientific and environmental institutions, organizations, farms, during writing scientific reports. The results of the research were used by the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration during developing the Development Strategy of the Zhytomyr Region for the period up to 2027 and the Action Plan for 2021–2023 for its implementation. The results of the dissertation were implemented in the educational process.
