Tymoshenko L. Ecological substantiation of expansion of assortment of dendrophytes of urban environment (on the example of Poltava geobotanical district)

The dissertation presents the results of the analysis of the current state of street plantings of the settlements of Poltava geobotanical district – Lubny, Myrhorod and Pyriatyn. Their taxonomic indicators, taxonomic composition, age structure, viability, decorativeness and general condition of plants, as well as conditions of their growth were evaluated. The determining factor that negatively affects the growth, development and decorativeness of dendrophytes is the soil density of the root zone, which in the region belongs to category IV-V (30–40 kg(сm2)-1, and is more than 40 kg(сm2)-1). "Assortment of trees, shrubs and vines for street plantings of Poltava Geobotanical District" has been developed, which provides an updated list of 278 cultivars suitable for the formation of main plantations, of which 67 are offered for the first time. The analysis of the real and potential assortment indicates the availability of wider use of a variety of tree and shrub species and vines for the needs of green improvement of settlements in the region.
