Essay

The dissertation deals with the causes, grounding, and nature of the mandatory evacuation of Polish citizens to the Ukrainian SSR in 1944–1946. The Soviet-Polish political and diplomatic relations are discussed, the status of the Polish Republic government-in-exile is defined as to its legal rights to represent Polish interests. The circumstances are explored within the Polish National Liberation Committee, the influence of the Soviet administration upon this process should be taken into consideration as the establishment status of those local authorities was proved to be outside the law. The circumstances of making Lublin Agreement between PNLC and the Ukrainian SSR were studied and discussed, and finally proved to be absolutely illegal. It is confirmed that the nature of forced evacuation of Polish citizens was repressive to the Ukrainian SSR in 1944–1946.
