Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the research of the condition, growth, amelioration properties of water pine plantations in the Ukrainian inter-river Dnieper and Desna. Complex amelioration studies of impact of pine plantations on the poor and rich pine sites, health state, growth and productivity of water protection stands of floodplain territories. The physical and chemical properties of soils, the formation and fractional composition of forest litter, the propagation of root systems have been found out. It has been found that in water conservation plantations the forest litter has a three-layer structure in the older age groups. The dependence of the efficiency of growth of forest plantations on the type of organic fertilizer is revealed. In the conditions of fresh rich pine sites, the height of the seedlings in the experimental variants was 1.4–1.7 times higher than the height of the seedlings at the control. The growth of seedlings in height was most influenced by the application of the fertilizer «Dostatok», litter, cow manure and chicken manure. Their heights reached 11.3 cm, 11.0, 10.1 and 9.9 cm respectively. The highest preservation of seedlings was recorded in plantations with the introduction of a natural lower layer of litter, which had sufficient moisture and proved to be a moisture accumulator. A high survival rate was also found in plantations with «Jiffy Forestry» tablets and chicken manure. Preservation of forest crops on the areas with fertilizer application in the conditions of fresh rich pine sites varies in the range of 85–95 % and exceeds the similar indicator of the control plots on which the conservation of forest crops is 80.0 %. The survival and preservation of forest crops in the conditions of fresh rich pine sites by 11–17 % exceeds the similar indicator of crops created in poor pine sites.
