Essay

The dissertation is devoted to studying the size-quality and commodity structure of oak stands of coppice origin of the Left-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine; the factors influencing dynamics of commodity structure and ages of maturity of stands are defined. The performed researches are directed on the development of a system of normative-reference data for taxation of the volume of separate trunks, assortment, and commodity structure of a stock of oak stands. The relevance of the work is determined by the need to draw up standards for the dynamics of the commodity structure of coppice oak stands, improve the accuracy of the standards for the size and quality structure, and the need to update the regulatory framework for the requirements of new standards for round timber. For a detailed study of the taxation structure, size, quality, and commercial structure of oak undergrowth stands, data from 28 sample plots laid by the author in different parts of the study region were processed. A total of 256 model trees were measured, 72 of which were felled. The trial plots were established taking into account the distribution of forest stands by productivity in the prevailing forest types. The measurement data of the model trees are used to parameterize the equations of the trunk profile, with the help of which the volumes of the model trees are calculated, as well as their distribution into size-quality categories. FieldMap Stem Analyst was used to model stem profiles and assortment. The experimental data were processed on a personal computer by mathematical and statistical methods using the applied programs of the Department of Forest Taxation and Forest Management of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine – «STRUC» and «BETA-distribution». According to the research results, for the use of the PA «Ukrgoslesproekt» and forestry enterprises of the forest-steppe part of Kharkiv, Poltava, and Sumy regions in planning and carrying out economic activities in oak plantations, the following are recommended: tables for material assessment of oak trunks; table of marketability of oak stands of vegetative origin of the Left-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine; optimum ages of final felling (maturity).
