Essay

The dissertation work is devoted to the study of the bioecological characteristics of seven species, one form and one variety of Juglans L. plants in the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. The paper analyzes the systematic position and species composition of the genus Juglans, and considers natural areas. The history of the introduction and distribution in the culture of J. regia L. f. fertillis Petz et Kirch has been investigated. The paper presents morphometric indicators of vegetative and generative bodies of species of the genus Juglans. It has been established that the seasonal rhythm of the development of the studied species is consistent with the natural and climatic conditions of the introduction area. The phenomenon of dichogamy is investigated. A high coefficient of reproductive capacity in most species and annual fruiting in all species were noted. Winter and drought-resistance of species of the genus Juglans in the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest Sports of Ukraine are studied. High winter hardiness is marked at the species J. microcarpa Berland, J. nigra L., J. cinerea L., lesser – at J. ailantifolia var. cordiformis Maх., J. regia L., J. mandshurica Maх, J. major Engelm. ex Torr., J. ailantifolia Carrière, J. regia f. fertillis Petz et Kirch. High drought resistance – in plants regia f. fertillis Petz et Kirch, J. regia L., J. nigra L., J. cinerea L., J. microcarpa Berland, J. major Engelm. ex Torr., Insufficient – J. mandshurica Maх., J. ailantifolia Carrière, ailantifolia var. cordiformis Maх. The content of biologically active substances in vegetative and generative organs is determined. The representativeness of the species of the kind of Juglans in the city's urban plantations is shown. Methods of seed reproduction have been developed. The results of the introduction were summed up and an assessment of the success and prospects of cultivation of various species of the genus Juglans in the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine was made.
