The thesis for Candidate of Technical Sciences in specialty 05.13.07 "Automation of control processes". - National Technical University Dnipro Polytechnic, Dnipro, 2021. The thesis is dealing with the actual scientific problem of development of universal methods, models and control systems of cutting in conditions of a large-scale rod production. It considers rolling parameter regularities and possibilities of the existing equipment. General regularities which provide efficient cutting of long product at various stages of rod production are established. It is shown that the efficient plan of long product cutting is a combination of two basic cutting plans: cutting for segments of a specified length according to settings, and uniform cutting on segments of same length. A method for an active regulation of rolled products tension in the last inter-stand gap of a roughing train was firstly presented. Tension regulator implementation into the existing control system ensures stabilization of the transverse dimensions of rolled products at the exit and reduction of rolled product wastes by improving the accuracy of the rolled product length predicting at the exit of a cage. A functional structure and an algorithm of the automated cutting control system and the method of rolled product cutting on a light section mill were established. The last method provides rods output to the cooling plate in lengths multiple to a measuring rod, regardless of an original workpiece length, while reducing rolled products sorting on the cooling plate of a light section mill. The problem of precise grouping of rods ends faces on a cooling plate at their braking was solved by developing a system of an automatic alignment control of heattreated rolling product on a cooling plate in a light-section mill.
