Object of research - the processes of formation and ensuring the economic security of the region; the purpose of the study - the formation of conceptual foundations and the development of theoretical and applied foundations of strategic development of the region in terms of ensuring its economic security; research methods - methods of scientific cognition, theoretical generalization and comparison, dialectical method, method of economic and mathematical modeling, graphic method, statistical methods, method of cluster analysis, methods of classification and systematization, method of system analysis, spatial method, cartographic method; results - the actual scientific task connected with the substantiation of strategic development of the region of the country in the context of maintenance of its economic safety is solved; novelty - improved methodological approach to the calculation of an integrated indicator for a comprehensive assessment of the level of economic security of a particular region of the country depending on the state of regional and national environments, which is based on procedures for selection and statistical processing of socio-economic indicators of regional development, formalization of economic security indicators weights; improved methodological approach to assessing the level of interregional economic differentiation by constructing a one-dimensional indicator of economic differentiation, which is the relative average range of values of the analyzed indicator to assess the quantitative values of interregional economic differentiation and its impact on economic security; improved interpretation of the concept of "economic security of the region" as a state of aggregate economic, socio-demographic, informational, managerial, scientific and technical, environmental, financial, investment and production resources of the regional economic system, which ensures its viability, sustainable development, competitiveness and economic sovereignty , which will determine the possibility of achieving the goals, based on mechanisms to protect the economic interests of the system from a wide range of unpredictable and difficult to predict external and internal destabilizing factors; the concept of strategic development of economic security of the region was further developed due to the formation of principles and functions of economic security management of the region and the system of links between information and analytical support, which allows to develop and implement effective strategic decisions on safe economic development of the region; further developed a system of indicators for assessing the level of economic security of regions, which consists of grouped criteria and their limit values, which allows to determine the state of economic security of regions and make the right management decisions to reduce the impact of negative factors on economic security of regions; The mechanism of development and implementation of the plan of strategic development of the region of the country on parameters of economic security which consists of sequence of actions concerning formation of the strategic purposes, the analysis of threats, forecasting, formation, monitoring and an estimation of efficiency of the chosen strategies that gives the chance to develop and substantiate strategies of development according to the parameters of its economic security; degree of implementation - the main results of the study were implemented in the practice of the following organizations and institutions: Tyachiv City Council of Zakarpattia region; Chop city territorial community; Dniester Euroregion; Department of Housing and Utilities of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, some provisions of the dissertation were used in the educational process of the Department of Economics, Marketing and International Economic Relations of the National Aerospace University.
