Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the research of the value of mechanical pressure of light for the formation of laser - induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) and the role of surface charge transport in electromechanics and electrokinetics. The distributions of normal pressure and tangential stress on the surface of a solid body, which arise due to the interference of the electromagnetic field of laser pulses and the excitation of surface plasmon polaritons, are calculated. The distribution of bulk electrostrictive forces is calculated. It is established that the formation of LIPSS is possible due to inelastic deformations due to the mechanical action of single laser femtosecond pulses. The significance of longitudinal electromagnetic waves in the formation of LIPSS has been studied. The Fresnel coefficients in the case of excitation of longitudinal electromagnetic waves are generalized. The conditions of application of the model of non-ideal Taylor-Melcher dielectrics are established and its generalization is carried out, taking into account electronic and diffusion surface currents and surface charge decay. For the first time, the dependence of the effective conductivity of a sphere on the angular distribution of the field is determined.
