In the dissertation work it is considered increasing of efficiency of restorative repair of a working profile of wheel pairs of cars of rail transport on KZh20 machines by means of special shaped mills. Factors are determined and operating conditions are studied, defects and their impact on the service life of shaped mills for restoring the working profile of wheel pairs of rail transport machines are analyzed. A mathematical model of the milling process depending on the cutting force, the thickness of the cut layer, and the feed to the cutter holder is developed to study the possibilities of increasing the efficiency of using special shaped milling cutters. A method for determining the size of the cut elements, depending on the design parameters, is developed. The influence of the quality of adjustment of shaped mills on the quality of restoration of the working profile of wheel pairs is determined. Based on the obtained results the theoretical and experimental studies of the influence of the cross-sectional area on the stress-strain state of the components of shaped mills for restoration of the working profile of the wheelsets are performed. The model of a new design of shaped mills taking into account an angle of inclination of tool holders in the body of a shaped mill, quantity of hard-alloy cylindrical cutting elements for increase of efficiency of restoration of wheel pairs by milling of working surfaces on KZh20 machines is offered.
