Essay

The dissertation is devoted to theoretical investigations of electron excitations - excitons and shallow donors in crystals with complex structures of energy bands. Influence of the many - valley condition band and the upper valence band degeneration on exciton and shallow donors of 5-th group energy spectrum fine structure is investigated by te methods of the disturbance theory with using a theoretical-group analysis and numerical calculations by the empirical pseudopotential method in diamond and zinc blende type covalent crystals. Original approach to studying the general regularities between an energy band structure, lattice constant and hydrostatic pressure( alloying) is offered. Possible means of using these regularities are pointed out. Key words: exciton, shallow donor, electron band structure, energy level, absorption spectrum, many valley conduction band, valence band degeneration, splitti ng, form factors, pseudopotential, structure of diamond and zinc blende type crystals
