The monitoring methods of the undeground gas pipeline insulation surface condition are considered. In qualities of a monitoring parame-ter it is selected dependence of a current losses on a damage of an insulation surface degree. It is developed the methods of a current determination in a gas pipeline which enable synchronously to determine a current in a gas pipeline and distance from it axes. Besides the outside magnetic fields are taken into account. The device for realization of monitoring is developed. Is Seen out theoretical isolation damage places determination authenticity estimation and experimental verification worked up devices in field conditions
