Essay

Object: effects caused by electronic excitations and their in-teraction with phonons, impurities and lattice disturbances in atomic cryocrystals. Goal: experimental reveal of mechanisms of production, transport and relaxation of electronic excitations. Methods: cathodoluminescence, photoexcitation and lumines-cence decay. New results: the results provide considerable prog-ress in solution of problem of producing electronic excitations in insulators with competition between scattering by phonons and relaxation on lattice local deformations. Employment: the re-sults are important for advances of electronic excitation physics in solids and physics of radiation-induced disturbances. Intro-duction: the results are valuable for production of solid-state excimer lasers, ionizing radiation counters, and for development of method of matrix isolation.
