Essay

Dissertation is devoted to the problem of systemic scleroderma (SSD) diagnostics and treatment improvement. The hyperfunction of humoral immunity was found in SSD patients, which was more expressed in patients with the subacute course of disease. By the mean of a controlled, randomized study it was shown that cyclophosphamide is effective in the treatment of patients with subacute SSD. The results of a placebo-controlled, double blind, randomized study proved the vasodilative efficacy of nifedipine and verapamili in associated with SSD Raynaud's syndrome. Obtained data indicate that anticentromere and anti-Scl-70 antibodies are of value in diagnostics of SSD. A set of diagnostic criteria for SSD with both sensitivity and specificity reaching the level of 100% was created in the study as well as a systematization of SSD able to serve as a guideline for the prognosis regarding the internal organ involvement.
