Essay

The dissertation is devoted, on the one hand, to linking proper motions of the HIPPARCOS catalogue stars to extragalactic objects using the results of observations which have been carried out at the Main Astronomical Observatory of Ukrainian Academy of Sciences within the framework of international programme of the Catalogue of Faint Stars (KSZ). With this purpose the special compiled catalogue of absolute proper motions of stars with respect to galaxies was created and spin parameters of the HIPPARCOS data relative to galaxies were determined. The most reliable parameters, combined with a wide range of others, were used for the spin correction of the final HIPPARCOS catalogue system. On the other hand, the problem of system propagation of the HIPPARCOS catalogue on faint stars (up to 14.5m) was resolved by creation of the survey catalogue of positions, proper motions and B, B-V, B-R of two million stars of Northern sky (FONAC). Random errors of the FONAC catalogue are ±0.2", ±0.004''/year and±0.18m for positions, proper motions and photometry respectively. The kinematics parameters, in particular motion of the Sun, differential rotation and spatial deformation of the Galaxy were determined from the FONAC proper motions. The kinematics of stars was studied with the Ogorodnikov-Milne model of a three-dimensional differential velocity field.
