Essay

The object is the phenomenon of the orbital ordering in the Jahn-Teller layered rare-earth crystals. The aim was the revealing of the dynamic coupling of the low-energy electron exсitations of the rare-earth ions with the crystal lattice vibrations. The method is the low temperature spectroscopy. The new approach lies in detection and studies of the mechanism of the forming of phonon and electron low-energy excitations in the layered Jahn - Teller systems. The manifestation of substantial coupling of the low-energy electron excitations with the crystal lattice phonon ones was revealed and the ways of influence on this coupling were found out. The new types of dynamical structures on the lattice vibrations were realized and investigated in the strong non-equilibrium state. The field of application lies in fundamental science, novel devices.
