Biochemical mechanisms of pathological changes in platelets, erythrocytes and leukocytes signaling leading to the type 1 diabetes mellitus angiopathies have been elucidated. Was proposed to use aminoguanidine as specific inhibitor of inducible NO synthase, inhibitor of non-enzymatic glycosylation and the antioxidant preventing peroxinitrite-inducing posttranslational protein modification.
