Object of research - automated control systems of nuclear and fossil-fuel power plants general functions informational and mathematical support which provides safe, economical and manoeuvre power plants operation. Goal of research - concep-tual design of the modern nuclear and fossil-fuel power plants power units automated control system which based on potential capabilities of informational technologies. Research method - relevant parts of general automatic control theory, control sys-tems analysis and synthesis, probability theory, statistic analy-sis, stationary and intermittent processes in multi-layer and dis-tributed control systems of nuclear and fossil-fuel power plants large-duty power units mathematical modelling. Theoretical and practical results - created methodology of development optimum power units automated control systems informational support with use of direct digital control and discrete method of information acquisition, processing and presentation which permit ensure safer and economical operation of power units automated control systems. Subject and level of implementation - generated information calculation systems, control calculation systems, group-functional control systems which was imple-mented and successfully operate in configuration of 55 auto-mated control systems of nuclear and fossil-fuel power plants power units of Ukraine, Russia, China, Bulgaria. Area of use - developing or updating nuclear and fossil-fuel power plants power units.
