Object: a coexistence in the same system of different subsystems with different length scale. Aim: to develop the statistical mechanical theory of structural interactions in colloidal dispersions. Methods: theory of integral equations, Monte Carlo, molecular dynamics. Results: local density distributions, energy of structural interaction, structural disjoining pressure. Application: stability of colloidal dispersions and colloidal films.
