The dissertation is dedicated to the construction of a deep structural model as well as to the reconstruction of the geodynamic evolution of the Dniepr-Donets Basin (DDB) and Donbas. New information about the tectonic structure of the region has been obtained. Concepts on the formation of the region under the influence of mantle diapirism are confirmed. Post-rift phases of extension and compression have been recognized in the DDB and Donbas. The main parameters of lithosphere deformation during the main stages of the region evolution have been estimated. Causes of the abnormal thickness of Carboniferous deposits within the south-eastern part of the DDB have been defined. Concepts on triggering and driving mechanisms of salt tectonics in the DDB have been further developed. The main phases of compressional tectonics that formed the Donbas Foldbelt were Cimmerian and Eo-Alpine rather than Hercynian. A large block a crustal-scale pop-up-structure pressed out upwards between two thrust faults was formed inthe Donbas due to compressional tectonics. The main detachment surface penetrates the entire crust and offsets the Moho.
