Essay

The work is devoted to research of the peculiarities of shaping of the acoustic and electromagnetic fields diffused at the ocean-atmosphere boundary on the basis of field study of the sea surface waves. Multifactor experiments were carried out on the oceano-graphic platform of the MHI of the NAS of Ukraine. New data on the sea surface slopes and their dependence on the wind velocity have been obtained; statistical models describ-ing this dependence have been built. The variations of the nature of coherence anisotropy in the wind waves on scales close to the dominant waves scale have been detected; physical mechanisms of the given phenomenon have been suggested. Estimations of changing of the characteristics of the acoustic and electromagnetic fields scattering on the sea surface, determined by the short surface waves anisotropy as well as nonlinear ef-fects in the surface waves field, leading to deviation of the sea surface slops distribution from the Gaussian distribution, have been obtained. The results of the research are of current importance for interpretation of the data of the remote sensing of the ocean from the outer space as well as for development of the ocean studies in the shelf area by means of the acoustic tomography techniques.
