Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of degradation overcoming in volumetric materials with the metal-semiconductor phase transition (MSPT). Processes of the forming in microstructure and phase composition for ceramics on the basis of VO2 and vanadium-phosphate glasses, the nature of conductivity, deflection from the Ohm's law and degradation at temperature cycling in such glass-ceramics are the object of study. X-ray and thermal analyses, SEM, X-ray microanalysis, dilatometry and electrical measurements are applied as the methods. Direction in the elaboration of scientific basis of synthesis and modifying of the new materials class - glass-ceramic on the basis of component with MSPT is developing. The nature of influence of composition, synthesis condition, temperature, electric field, temperature cycling on microstructure, phase composition and electrophysical properties of VO2-based glass-ceramics is determined. The modified glass-ceramics compositions with the conductivity jump of about 100 at phase transition in VO2, which have the working current up to ten ampere and do not degrade at temperature cycling are obtained. Sphere of use are electronics and electrical engineering for the protection against the current and thermal overloads, training courses.
