Essay

The biodiversity of the group in the studied region is discovered; 76 species from three families are described and illustrated in detail. It is argued that micro-morphological data (mainly ornamentation of the protoconch) and the shell microstructure characters are helpful in the interpretation of systematic relationships, taxonomy and for the reconstruction of viviparoids phylogeny. The reorganizations of systematic and zoogeographical composition and changes of dominant species resulted in four points of striking changes in the Cenozoic history of viviparoids.
