In the thesis the methodological principles of the radioecological monitoring of ecosystems and agricultural production are developed for the case of the large nuclear accidents resulting in the release to the Environment of the radioactive materials in various physical-chemical forms. The parameters of the statistical variability of different radiological characteristics of the ecosys-tems' components are estimated. The methodical approaches are formulated which enable optimization of organization and realization of the radioecologi-cal monitoring of ecosystems and the radiological control of the agriculture production at the territories contaminated with the artificial radionuclides. These approaches include the practical methods of calculation of the mini-mum necessary quantity of the samples to be taken in order to estimate the radiological characteristics with the requested accuracy. The requirements to the distance between the sampling points and area of the soil and vegetation sampling are substantiated, which ensure representativeness of the monitoring results. The permissible error of the radionuclide activity measurements is determined that guarantees the requested accuracy of assessment of the radio-logical characteristics. The requirements to the methodology of determination of the radionuclide activities in the samples are justified which provide mini-mization of the representative monitoring costs.
