Essay

Physical effects are first pointed out and investigated that reveal the band-contact lines in crystals; besides, the critical state theory of a vortex lattice in type-II superconductors is developed without the assumption that critical currents are perpendicular to a local magnetic induction. These results provide new possibilities to study the electron-band structure of metals and enable one to describe the critical states in high-temperature superconductors.
