Essay

The dissertation deals with the quantitative assessment of flood control and protective role of beech and spruce forests, its changes under the influence of anthropogenic reduction of forest land percentage, carrying out of main use lumbering and the following development of the new forest generation. The scientific research was carried out in the homogenous timberlands of mountain slopes (plantations, logged lands), in subwatersheds of the torrents and in river basins. The differences in humidity control by the system "plantation-soil" in beech and spruce forests were estimated. The high-altitude and typological regularities of formation of the slope runoff were ascertained. The were also obtained the data on the change of hydrological regime of elementary subwatershed under the influence of voluntary and selective felling and reduction of its forested area by final harvesting from 94% to 58%. The dynamic of runoff under the influence of the young growth was found out. It was ascertained that regeneration of the water regime is durational and unequal in the different forest vegetable conditions.
