Essay

In this thesis necessary conditions for directed motion of particles and topological solitons have been obtained. Transmission coefficients for acoustic solitons propagating in the chains with transversal and orientational vibrations has been computed. It has been demonstrated that there is no connection between existence of the Peierls-Nabarro potential and existence of mobile monotoneous topological solitons. In arrays of Josephson junctions and ferromagnetic chains breathers without continuum analogs have been found.
