Tretyak I. Diagnosis and surgical treatment of severe and old peripheral nerve injuries

Thesis dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of traumatic injuries of peripheral nerves that characterized by the presence of nerve trunks significant defects, the lack of central or distal nerve segment, prescription injury that have more than twelve months, in other words in those cases where forecast is extremely bad. The analysis of the contemporary diagnostic methods' capabilities was made, including such methods as complex of ENMG techniques, CT and MRI studies, intraoperative diagnosis in determining the functional condition of damaged nerves and predict the volume of functions' recovery. To treat this patients' category were developed and implemented into practice new surgical techniques. Application of modern diagnostic methods, improving medical technique and application of reconstructive surgical methods of treatment, based on the involvement of abilities of compensations and regeneration and allowed to increase effectiveness of surgical interventions, achieve positive results in 91.2% of cases.
