Essay

A technology for increasing efficiency of induced optical interactions in crystals based on analysis of their anisotropy, as well as an approach for improving electro-, piezo- and acoustooptic characteristics of devices with the working crystalline elements are developed. An approach for analyzing anisotropy of electro-, piezo-, elasto- and acoustooptic effects in crystals and a technology for improving the parameters of electro- and acoustooptic cells are suggested. Acoustic, piezoelectric, elastic, electrooptic, photoelastic and acoustooptic parameters are studied for a number of crystals. Experimental geometries are found that increase the application efficiency of those crystals. The application range includes solid state electronics.
