Essay

The work is aimed at lowering the rate of mortality, morbidity and disability of children, after asphyxia, and at improving their life quality; an algorithm for early diagnosing of damage to newborns' CNS was developed. The paper substantiates the development of a cluster model of organizational as well as treatment-and-rehabilitation measures of asphyxia management and the efficiency of their use. The conducted research demonstrated the place and role of "mitochondrial distress" in the hierarchical cascade of pathological changes at the genetic, molecular, cellular and metabolic levels; in particular, the research shows the energy collapse of cells, the destruction of cytoplasm membranes and the activation of pro-inflammatory cytokines against the background of hampered synthesis of anti-inflammatory ones, and neonatal epithelial dysfunction in newborns with severe asphyxia. The research resulted in the improvement of the regimen of treatment of newborns, with asphyxia in early neonatal period, on the basis of experimental research on animals and a randomized study of clinical efficacy of neuroprotective and metabolic therapy for children.
