Essay

Unified approach is developed to construction and investigation of Pade approximants and their generalizations for many classes of special functions. Asymptotics of deviations of diagonal Pade approximants for functions of Mittag-Leffler type is obtained. Simultaneous Pade approximants for sets of confluent hypergeometric functions are constructed and studied.
