Essay

A new class of phenomena has been identified, and a majority of such phenomena known to the date have been studied in the thesis. They occur if a non-stationary perturbation acts on a one-dimensional nonlinear oscillator the characteristic feature of which is the presence of an extremum in the dependence of frequency of oscillation on its energy. A nonstationary perturbation changes energy. Beyond the vicinity of the extremal energy, this change gives rise to a rather fast decay of correlation while, in the vicinity, the decay is much slower. The latter property leads to characteristic "zero-dispersion" phenomena.
