Essay

Object of investigation - forest stands of the Western and Small Polissya growing under the airtechnogenic pollution conditions. The objective - to find out the reproductive peculiarities and forest typology principles of natural seed regeneration and biologically resistant forest stands forming, to work out the local system of forest management in airtechnogenically polluted regions of the Western and Small Polissya. Methods of investigation - forestry and taxonomic, typologycal, pedological, bioindicating, variation statistics. Scientific novelty - on the basis of complex forest ecological investigation of forest stands growing under the airtechnogenic pollution conditions ecological peculiarities of forest stands forming, their viability, the main ecological factors, forest typological particularities of radial increment dynamics, fruiting and natural seed regeneration have been found. The change in morphological and anatomic indices as well as physiological state of pine, spruce and oak seedlings affected by the treatment with one-time and several-times SO2 concentrations in the laboratory and field conditions is analyzed. On the basis of experimental data the maximum one-time and several-times treatment permissible SO2 concentrations for under study tree species have been determined and proved. The influence of stand forming felling, improvement of forest health as well as mineral fertilizers on viability and development of pine stands of various degrees of damage has been studied. The principles of forest exploitation and local system of forestry management in airtechnogenically damaged forests have been worked out. The developed methodological approaches of estimation of forest stands growing under the airtechnogenic pollution conditions taking into consideration natural and anthropogenic factors may be used for forest stands diagnostics in sylvicultural practicies planning in different kinds of end-use forests. The suggested organization of intensive-selection forest management and the worked out forest management local system taking into consideration the functional zoning of forest stands damaged by airtechnogenic and other resulting factors is reasonable to use in forest management in the forests affected by environmental disturbances. The developed principles of forming of resistant forest stands growing under airtechnogenic pollution are used by the state forestry enterprises of Rivne and Lviv regional forestry and hunting administrations. Field of application: forestry.
