The object of the dissertation: the processes of formation and innovative development of regional research and production systems; the aim of the dissertation: the treatment of theoretical, methodological, and methodical principles, scientific and practical recommendations for the formation and effective functioning and innovative development of regional research and production systems; methods: analysis, synthesis, comparison technique, system-defined approach, peer reviews, SWOT analysis; structural and functional, factor, economic statistics, cluster analysis, cartographic, forecast method; novelty: the regional research and production system has been separated from a regional economic system and investigated; its influence on the economy and on the stregthening of region's competitive positions has been determined; the methodological approaches for regional innovative development policy of regional research and production systems, its strategic principles and mechanism to provide with have been elaborated; results: the scientific and methodological foundations for the realization of regional innovative development policy of regional research and production systems, the methodical approaches for an assessment of these systems, the practical recommendations, concerning formation of strategic directions and mechanism of their innovative development, have been treated; industry - productive forces and regional economy development.
