Essay

Object of research - forest genetic resources of main and scattered forest tree species in western region of Ukraine. Methods of research - methods of forestry and forest valuation, biometric, comparative ecology, quantitative genetic and mathematic and statistic. Scientific novelty. First peculiarity of variability of forest and forest valuation, genetics and breeding performances, form structure of main and scattered forest tree species in the objects of their valuable gene pool in situ and ex situ were revealed. Differentiation of functional state of genetic reserves, plus stand of main and rare forest tree species using multifactorial index of functionality (MIF) developed by the author was detected. The quantitative variation of fertility clones on seed orchards of coniferous trees was defined. Trends and potential changes in the level of genetic variability of seed due to the use of different options of management of seed orchards were revealed. Principles of construction of a conceptual model of the process of conservation of forest genetic resources in Ukraine, which includes implementation of three main elements ( national concept, differentiated for forest tree species or groups of strategies and technologies, programs for the conservation and sustainable use of forest genetic resources) were based. Field of application: forestry.
