Essay

Modern theoretical bases on how the forest ecosystems influence the distribution and migration of radionuclides in forest cenosises are considered. Problems that concern the necessity of maintening the forest stands' firmness, after the removal of anthropogenic pressure, in the conditions of high radiocontamination density and of population's evacuation, are expounded. The ongoing demutation processes of natural afforestation in fallow lands after terminating the agricultural use are described. Influence of the antropogenic factors on the intensity of migration processes is appraised. The efficiency of the counter-measures application for the improvement of the radiological situation is analysed. The priority of natural processes in relation to the stabilization of the radioecological situation, before the variants of technological influence on migration processes, is set.
