Essay

This work deals with the problem of development of novel antibiotics via genetic сonstruction of secondary metabolism (SM) in actinomycetes. It is aimed to reveal main rules of combinatorial biosynthesis from analysis of production of landomycins, pacidamycins and moenomycins. Methods of molecular genetics, genomics, bioinformatics and chemistry were used. Universality of translational regulation of SM, integration of synthesis and export steps, modularity of function of SM are shown. This is first case of biotechnological generation of novel pacidamycins and moenomycins. Areas of application - biotechnology, pharmacy.
